Hi, to all.

Great E60 and E61 forum, the best, imho! Hope all of you have the best ride of your lives, with BMW.

As you can spot from my signature, and with no disrespect to all the M5, 550I, 545, 535, 535D, 530, 530D, 525 and 525D owners (I only wished I could afford those!), but I wish to summon up any 520D sedan or touring owners who are members, here.

Please, gather under this thread and state your impressions about the car , problems , whatever , regarding the 163CV 520D.

Greetings,

Afterglow.

I'm very pleased with it.

Engine it quit ok, confort is nice, sound is very silent - overall a splendid car for a reasonable price.

Consumption however up to 7.7l/100km even on the highway

My Ride: 520 Diesel M Sport - Carbon Black

Great on the motorway, cruises at 85 mph almost silent, averaging 40 mpg, only one gripe moving from a Petrol to a diesel I have stalled it a couple of times (when cold) due to not giving it enough rev's and the the start/stop re-starting in a hurry can be a bit of an ordeal!!

Anyone else had this problem - or is it just me

Best thing about it is, I get to drive a great car and pay very little tax to the government

520i counts? I like it, easy on the wallet, almost the same enjoyment (at least for me), and less thirsty.

I don't know how the 520d drives, but I've drove the new 3-series E90 320d - and it was a very nice car... The engine was great

It did sound a little bit more like a diesel than our 530d does, but the the engine was very smooth and didn't use that much fuel at all (I drove on a track - fast )

I don't think the car is fast, but I would prefer a 520d before a 520i and 523i, because of the great torque in the diesel engine.. The 520 and 523i has a nice 6-cyl sound, but it's so tired...

No mater what type of badge you have on the trunk, you love your BMW exactly the same as everyone else does!

I've swapped from an E39 528i Auto to a E60 520d manual - the diesel is a far more sprightly drive and definately a quicker car than the 2.8 petrol, even with 30+ bhp less power

We should participate more in this forum. The lower engines e60's & e61's also have tips, tricks, problems, suggestions. More of these, please.
