Just put new wheels and tires on, wondering if i need to run out and get an alignment. Car handles fine, tracks straight and no vibration. The tires I replaced were noisy run flats that had feathered or cupped slightly. Tire guy said it was normal for run flats and they do not age well. So glad I am rid of the run flats. I don't think tires and wheels warrant an alignment but I am wondering if there are signs I should looking for?

Thanks

If the front tires are feathered and make noise, most likely there is too much toe. But square block tread tires tend to do this more than rounded tires. If your tires have a blocky tread pattern it will eventually have this feather and become noisy too.

I was under the impression that you only needed an alignment when you replaced or did any work on your suspension. I am not 100% certain although i cant imagine why an alignment would be necessary. The problem is having to pay to get it measured. At least in my area the only place that can do alignments is the dealer.

I would absolutely have an alignment done after installing new tires and/or wheels. I just installed new tires 2 days ago and spent yesterday morning at Firestone for an alignment. Firestone has a lifetime alignment deal good for free alignment rechecks as long as you own the car. I have it on all 3 of our cars. Costs only $150!
