Hello, I just got a new 520d (by the way Olivin is a NICE color) and have the following question for experienced users like you.

I drive my kids frequently and we are quite sensitive to blowing air so I prefer mid outlets (to upper body) closed all the time and prefer air coming in from windscreen and foot outlets. When I put aircon on auto and check Idrive air distribution settings I see that the car choose to blow air almost only through mid outlets which I have closed. The result is that the car is never cold enough.

When I adjust to manual settings Auto swithes off. Is this ok? Will I still have auto air volume control?

What are your settings? Anyone like me with mid outlets closed?

Where can you have a 520d at this time of year that is too warm?

Manual is OK - it goes to the settings you have selected in iDrive. If you need more air volume use the fan rotary switch.

this week almost everyday we have 15-20 degrees C, Slovenia - Central Europe. If the car is parked on the sun it gets very hot.

Yes, not nice for being in the office all day.

So, when I make air distribution settings, Auto switches off. Is the fan speed still on auto?

What I miss is a possibility to toggle between auto and manual settings (must set them everytime again).

AFAIK, the button DOES toggle between auto and manual settings. The manual settings are the ones you have chose in the iDrive climate screen.

BY EXPERIENCE, ALWAYS USE MANUAL SETTINGS , IT IS AS YOUR NEEDS.
BY THE WAY , THE AIR COND. IN E60 IS POWERFULL VS E39/E46.
HERE IN ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT SUMMER TEMP. REACH 34, AND WHEN I TURN A/C TO MAX FAN , FEEL COLD.

Congrats for selecting an out of the norm colour like I did Not may of us around, most generic BMW drivers select silver, black or the plethora of greys that BMW insists on creating. Even though I don't drive with the flashy MSports addenda I still get lots of admiring looks and that's down to the colour.

Are you sure? When I press auto button all my manual settings are lost and cannot recall them.
I can not switch off auto setting by pressing auto button again, only by making new manual settings.
Which button do you press to toggle?
