So I was driving my car solo and the passenger airbag restraint warning pops up on on iDrive. I have an 05 so I thought it may be related to the recall and scheduled an appointment to take it in. The dealer told me it's a faulty battery that caused the warning, though my battery has given me no signs of voltage drop etc.

Is it possible for a faulty battery to affect the airbag safety system?

Almost exact same thing happened to me. I go an air bag restraint warning and brought the car in. Dealer said a bad/corroded battery cable caused the fault. Strange but the details where printed on my service receipt....

Dito for me. Last week, brought my car in for the same problem that occured about a month ago. Dealer said bad battery cable and replaced the cable. so far so good.

Same for me too. Dealer checked the battery, it was ok, and I haven't seen the light come on since (this happened about 3 weeks ago).
