I bought my 07' 530xi (two weeks old) in for window tinitng. When I picked up the car for delivery the windows looked great but the air bag restraint system light was on, and an Idrive msg came up. has any one expirenced this after window tinting? is there anyway to reset this or should I go to the dealer ASAP? is there anyway installing the tint could have caused this?

 

welcome. i havent heard of that happening after window tinting, but i have experienced the air bag restraint system light. in my case, it was just a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. dealer said it was a common problem with e60s. just take it to the dealer and theyll take care of it. its under warranty anyway. hope this helps. btw, what kind of tint did you go with? any pics? enjoy the forums.

 

That error can (also) be caused by a disruption in the power supply to certain modules. If the tinter worked on (partly removed) the door panel or if anything under the driver's seat was disconnected WITHOUT FIRST disconnecting the battery, the E60 will throw that code. Only the dealer can reset the computer for you. Be careful and don't mention the tint deal since he just may decide that it was your fault and charge you.

From what I understand, this module (passenger Restraint Module), even with the key off/out of the car, receives power from the battery and ANY interruption, EXCEPT disconnection at the battery, will throw the code.

 

Thanks for the help everyone, i'm going to head to the dealer this weekend to sort this out, I need progman 25 installed too, my idrive is very slow. As for the tint I got 50% solar guard and I'm very happy, I didnt want to go darker bc in NYC TBTA officers stand at the toll booths an look to pull over for excessively dark tints.
