I was pocket parking my car today as suddently a "Driver airbags faulty!" warning came up.
Did drive at once to our local BMW fast Service and they connected the car into the Progman.
Once again a sensor problem...
The service itself was very fast, I was in and out in less than an hour but the part will take a couple
of days to come from Germany.
It is not nice to drive a car with no driver airbags!
Anyone else had problems with the airbags?

Wow. That really sucks. One thing I've noticed with the E60, compared to that of my old E39, is that every sensor on the car is VERY sensitive. I've had numerous faulty warnings come on for various problems and it's annoying.
As for an interim solution...wrap a lot of bubble wrap around your steering wheel, just in case.

Only driver's airbag get faulty, but not passenger's airbag. Drive from passenger's side
Sorry Ric, cannot resist.
Besides airbag faulty, did you receive restraint system fault? There might be some disconnect between airbag and steering wheel ECU.
I was told sometime back that even though you have that message, in case of accident, it'll still be deployed.
Any rate, drive carefully, bud.

When the light is on, the bags are not working
It's kind of funny, but driving without airbags feels unsafe

Plus this!

I also have a similar warning that reads, Passenger side air bag or seat belt restraint malfunction, both seat belt and airbag lights came on, drove with it like that for about two weeks and dropped car off yesterday at the dealer, so I will have news later today on what is wrong.

After discussuions last weekend with the CEO of BMW Suomi (Finland) I drove my car early Monday
morning to my local dealer and got a free loaner (E90 320i manual).
I got my car back yesterday (Friday), all fixed and cleaned up + new mircofilters, all without charge.
Some more grey hairs, but my E60 is in mint contion now!

Mine also came up this week but went away after shutting the car off and restarting the car.
I will have it check by the dealer as soon as I have time.

My car reported "Passenger side air bag or seat belt restraint malfunction" today. I am debating about taking the car back for service since, I have a Carbon Black 550i on order and it should be delivered in two weeks.
