Default airbag light after opening rear door

My 2004 530i had the airbag light on when I bought it, apparently due to a faulty passenger seat mat sensor. I purchased a bypass and installed it and all seemed to be well, until picking up my kids one day. It seems as though the light triggered again as soon as they opened the rear passenger door. What can this be caused by, and how can I fix it?

Check that 'bypass' fix you put in. It may not be making contacts.

I will check that for sure, but the bypass is on the front passenger seat, and the airbag light illuminated when the kids opened the rear door and got in. It seemed as though it lit up even before they got in... maybe just as they opened the door. I have a friend with an airbag scan and reset tool so I will reset it tonight and try to provoke it to happen again to be sure.
