It wasn't the "Rest" buttom for me. I checked when it happened.

My dealer replaced the Regulator for Blower of Heating/Air condition system. It's behind the iDrive system.

I had exactly this problem and the solution the dealer applied was exactly as mentioned in the text above. The mechanic had to spend some 6 hours to get the part exchanged. According to the dealer this particular part is located behind the dash which force you to disassemble quite a number of things to reach it.
