My Ride: 2004 March E60 530i, Titanium Silver with Black Dakota Leather, Style 124 18" Alloy, Active Steering, Adaptive headlights, Auto-Dim Int+Folding Ext Mirrors, Auto Aircon Advanced, Brushed Aluminium Trim, CD Changer, Comfort Seats, De-Chrome, Dynamic Drive, Electric Glass Sun Roof, Graduate Tinted Windscreen, Heated Front Seats, Natvigation Professional, Sport Steering wheel, Sun Protection Glass, TV function
Since I went in last time to fix the window anti-trap function. They've updated the software for me, now there is a perspect view on Nav pro rather than just a map. 
What I've also notice is that I can't choose Auto function on the Air distribution menu.
Also it used to have a icon on the bottom left corner of the screen to show the current air distribution setting. This has been replaced by the CD track info or the current Radio station. 
Is this the nature of the new software?
I've asked the dealer why and am told "Oh... Not sure, Sometimes BMW put new things on there and takes things off. oh.... don't know what version is that...... Should be the latest one....."

My Ride: E61 525iA Build 2004/08. "Safirschwartz Metallic". Navi Pro, Adaptive Headlights, Bi-Xenon, Panorama Sunroof etc... CIP 18.00.01 (No noticed bug)
I've got exactly the same after sw-update. I can live without it (radio/CD-information is more relevant), but wanna know if they will put vent info somwhere else in future...
