I am in Orlando right now so I cannot test the AC settings but I know that the bars where blue not red. The microfilters where replaced at 8k. Since it does eventually get cold I don't think it's a blown fuse. At this point I think the Frion needs a recharge.

Is the AC covered under CPO?
should be, but is your auxiliary fan up front spinning when the A/C is on? if it doesn't work, that would give you VERY poor cooling when stopped but decent cooling when the car is moving.

Also, keep in mind you have a black car, in Florida, and we're in the middle of the summer. It's going to be much hotter inside a black car than an identical car in white or silver will be, so the AC will have to work harder to cool it.

Please mind the noob question, but where is the auxillary fan? Is it the big one behind the radiator?

Also I don't think that is the problem because it still takes long to cool even when going 80

I had read on here somewhere there is actually a service bulletin about this problem, namely no cool air for 6-10 minutes, and if its proven to be the problem it should be covered by BMW. I cant recall the bulletin # though. It will take some more search work to find but its there somewhere!

that's the one. it would take approx 5 mins to cool down at 80, it's not an instantaneous 0-80-cool interior type of speed.

About halfway down this page http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...oling&st=15 is an attached Service Info Bulletin describing what sounds like your problem

Thanks for that
I also just found another topic where people stated that with high humidity, water will actually freeze and restrict the flow of cool air.

I guess at this point I will bring the car to the dealer and tell them to test it after the car has been sitting in the sun for a few hours. I will probably also bring in the SIB.

My a/c would not start cooling sometimes especially after the frist start of the day. Once the a/c worked subsequent restarting of car there was no further problem.
After 2 visits to dealer it was determined to be a problem with the a/c compressor. Changed by BMW under their "goodwill" policy as the 2004 model was then out of warranty. Whew!

I've been having the same problem on my '07 since I bought it two years ago, last summer I just dealt with and bitched the whole time. I tried recharging but it didn't work, it seemed to get super cold but only after 15 mins or so and then would eventually go out after a while and just be slightly cool. At the beginning of this summer it was already getting 95 degrees or so and I knew I had to do something.

I took to my dealer which I had my extended warranty, they took it to the local BMW dealer and changed out some O rings and the extension valve. I got it back about a week later, it seemed to of helped but still just wasn't right. Still taking too long to cool off this top of the line car. Took it back again, I told the service manager in the beginning it was the compressor, he thought i was nuts. It went to BMW again, they rechecked everything and all systems responding was 100%, but the tech knew something was wrong. They actually got timed the rotation on the compressor and knew it was completely off, don't ask me how but they truly went the extra mile for me. Say the rotation was supposed to spin at a 1,000 revolutions, mine was at 100, (this is how they explained it to me). Anyway, they had to order the compressor straight from Germany and another 10 days later, my AC is freakin awesome. $1600 and I just had to pay my original $100 deductible. (side note, I never buy extended warranties, but my wife pushed me to buy it because of the idrive, Thank god for mi esposa)

Nice, I just hope my CPO warranty covers it
