Hi! My car has 17.000 Km. It started to have a strange smell when engine starts. Couple of minutes with or without a/c it disapears.
I took the car to the BMW dealer that told me the reason comes from the clutch (it is 6 gears car -manual). he said it is related with intensive use. He also said it the smell will progressivelly disappear.
I am not convinced because the clutch is used normaly.
Who has/had the same problem?
Rgds

Do a search using the word "odor" (and another search using the spelling "odour") and you should see plenty of information regarding a common issue with the air conditioning...

Thanks for the tip. The garage suggested that teh evaporated needs to eb cleaned. However, than they said the car is quite young meaning that cleaning the evaporator would not make sense.
Anyhow, I start to feel that in fact they ddi not wnat to clean it.
I will try to see where is located the a/c evaporator.

Check first with the dealer what material they will use to disinfect the evaporator. They cleaned mine and it smelled like a cheap taxi for weeks (you know, the smelly tree on the mirror).......
