In UK.There are two types of air con control unit for the E60. The advance one is optional extra.Unfortunally my car equipped with the basic control unit which look 20 years behind. My question is if i can just replace the advance control unit to my basic unit or more parts require ?

Our money or BMW profits?

Well, funny thing is if I assume correctly, is that both are automated air conditioning systems, but the advanced one, has some extra functions. Nevertheless, the normal one, has knobs that resemble, old air-con systems, that were not automated.

I think this is not very nice...

Hmmmm, which would you choose:
  • Great sporty drive, 'ok' aircon
  • Not so great drive, great aircon
I think you know the answer! Anyway, isn't the E-class comparable to the 7-series?

I doubt that reinstallation is cost effective. What does the more advanced system look like? I need pics to get a feel for what you are saying.

I have to ask - what's wrong with the 'basic' system? Hit 'AUTO' button and dial in temperature... I know the 'advanced' system has sniffing capability to auto turn on re-circ but I don't miss it...?

In my meaning the standard AC works great and it is easy to handle.

To Marcusleung,
Let your friend with his E M-B laugh, let's see who laughes the most when his cars brakes fade out and the car starts to rust in a year or so.

The E class is comperative the the E60. The S-class to the 7-series.
