My Ride: 2002 BMW 530i - Silver
2008 BMW X5 xDrive 30d - Black
2007 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro - Silver
I just sold my E39 530i for PhP700,000. That is about $14,700. I am again thinking of getting a 550i over a 530i. I have no problem about running costs. I owned a few V8s before(a 2003 Porsche Cayenne S and a 2005 Ford Expedition). I sold those cars because they were rubbish. The Ford accelerates so slow and the Cayenne had so little space in the back. The price difference between a fully loaded 550i and a fully loaded 530i as I said before was about $14k. What do you guys think ?

Ok, so back to your question, if you can afford it, get the 550i - you'll miss the power in the 530 all the time - guaranteed. So if your financial situation affords you to comfortably own a 550, I say, don't even think about it (or post another thread about, unless its a thread with pics of your new car ), get the V8 and DRIIIIIIIVE

Gaaaawd, not again! hahaha just kiddin' man - Congratulations on the sale - doubt you would ever get anything near 14,700 USD for an E39 530 in the States!

The same message as I gave before: get the 550i!!!
There is a massive power difference between the 530 and the 550. Only a small one between the 535 and the 550.
There is nothing like a big V8 pulling you in a BMW. Worth every freaking penny.

And, I remember someone saying I kept up pretty nicely with the 550s... just kiddin' though - I can definitely say that there's a HUGE power deficit in the US-spec 530. I'd imagine the Euro-spec 270hp 530 is not that much faster, so yes, I vote 550 as well.

Scott, I don't think they have a 535 out there, so its either the 270hp 530 or the 550.

Yes the model availability of the E60 around the world is huge. There are so many different engine configurations.

To me, if someone is musing about perhaps wanting a 550, then that is what they really want. They're just trying to figure out a way to justify spending the extra $$$$.

Unless its me musing, with me it just means I'm trying to get all the piggy banks together - that's all hahaha
Also you'd be missed in the 5 Series family, a 335 is faster and more nimble than a 535. No doubt about that. I need the extra so 3 Series is not an option for me.
