Last friday I called my dealer to ask them if they could call me when my car was in so I can already collect the owners manual. The salesrep told me I could already pick the manual up at the dealership.
When I picked up the manual I got a real nice box from BMW Privileges with a letter congratulating me with the ordered car. Next to the manual the box also included a road map of the netherlands a CD with BMW history and a booklet with aftersales info from BMW.
So if you ordered your car you can actually get the manual right away making the wait a bit more barable.

Right after I ordered the car I emailed BMW and asked for a manual to learn about the features allready, before jumping in the car on delivery.
I received it online as a *pdf (as I requested) and two days later I had the original in my mail (what I didn't request).
BTW, I'm in Germany.
