I mentioned earlier that I like the start/stop buttons on some cars, without any kind of comfort access, that I have driven in Europe. If I am not mistaken, these automatic equipped cars only had to be in park to start (i.e., no foot on brake). Am I likely to be remembering correctly?
Can someone test this for sure, because I see this as a benefit to having the start/stop button:
As you are getting close to your intended destination, go ahead and eject the key. The engine will stay running. Stop the car, and push the stop button as you exit.
I believe that the button is actually a time saver in this circumstance.

I am driving an E90 loaner, I can not remove the key with the engine running.
Having the start button without CA is foolish, to me it is and extra step.

...and you can put your car in neutral, turn off the engine, and coast to a stop...even more of a time saver...

I have always wondered, does it mean with comfort access (or any other brands that has this), anyone can open my car door as long as I am near the car?
What would happen if someone jumps in and start the car? I am assuming s/he can't go far since the car will detect that the key is no longer there.

I am going against the grain here, but I like the start/stop button. Why you ask - because it is cool. And because my friend who thinks we are fanatics doesn't have one. I know - I acting like I'm 12 years old.
