06 550i, 80,000 miles lost bottom end braking capability.

Recall on the valve had been done.

'New' indy shop for me claims Brake Booster and Vacuum Pump plus gaskets needs to be done for around $1,800.00

What are your thoughts? I am reading some of the threads here that claim a seal replace might do the job?

Update: Called the BMW dealership that did the valve recall... They are saying to bring it in and they might be able to do the replace under the recall.

Let me know how this goes, I would to get this done for free on my car, since we have the same year and model.

Good News:

BMW covered the replacement of a brake booster, brake servo unit, seal, and bleeding of the brake system all at zero cost to me. Recall of valve covered this malfunction.

Things to note: I had the recall of the valve down a week before my issue so the SA had a solid reason to cover the repair under that recall.

*Indy shop stated I needed a vacuum pump replacement which BMW said I did not need. Can't say I am surprised there.

My recall work was done about two years ago and I was told originally that it was not covered. I wonder should I try a different dealership or the same again?
