Default Advice Needed For 550i Listing

So, due to changing family situations and my wife wanting something less sporty, I'm thinking of selling her 2007 550i. What do you think I should list it for? I'm located in the Maryland/Virginia/DC Metro Area.

I purchased it a year ago from a well taken care of 2nd owner garaged with 73,000 miles and it has been lightly driven since with only 81,000 miles on it at the moment a weekend vehicle. Car is clean, non smoker and has Comfort Seats, Logic 7, Sport Package, clear bra, Navigation, Cold Weather Package, 2 sets of keys and 2 sets of floor mats (factory carpet BMW and factory BMW all weather). Those are the top ones I can think of.

Never been in an accident or had any paint or body work. I would give the exterior condition an 8/10 and interior 9/10. I purchased the zero decductible Route 66 full coverage factory extended warranty 4 years 48,000 miles that covers everything including the radio, Idrive and even the battery. The coverage is fully transferrable to the new owner and runs through 120,940 miles or 8/22/2017! This would be included with the car in the sale price.

Route 66 has already paid for new strut mounts, lower control arms, alternator bracket oil leak, oil pressure sensor switch and vacuum pump, new CCC unit for the Idrive all withouth any questions asked or hassle directly to the BMW dealer and independent German shop.

I'm also thinking including a full professional interior/exterior detail with the sales price. Any tips for selling this car I might have missed or is there any advice you could give with your experience of selling private party vehicles?

Thanks so much for any help. Here are some pics of the car:

Looks great! I wasn't shopping for a 550i myself, but I got a 535xi.. My advice from selling cars... yours looks more than clean enough to even bother spending the $$ on an interior or exterior detail. Unless you get it dirt cheap, save your $200 and list the car as is. They are more rare.. but a good price on a 2008 535 was 15K out in Boston. Plenty of people list it at 22K but they never sell. Even dealers had them listed at 16 and 17K to move. If you're not in a rush.. I would personally list it up at 18 or 19K to weed out dreamers.. and make a deal lower on someone interested and with cash on hand.

The problem is.. you always think your car is worth a ton, but either you are willing to wait forever and deal with the people in between.. or just settle on something good and sell it.

Or... just keep it. I wouldn't call the 550i sporty compared to a 2 door coupe or anything I bought my e60 specifically because I was running out of trunk space for strollers etc, and the back seat was getting too cramped for two large baby seats.

Thanks for the reply. She doesnt like how firm it is with the sports package. I would keep it for myself but then again i would rather downsize to 2 vehicles.

I dont want to price it to high. Im thinking $17,800. Would you waste your time with Craigslist or just advertise with sites like Autotrader and Cars.com?

Hey, any place that will give you exposure is good. I've actually had good luck parking it on a busy street with a "For Sale" sign and a phone number!

Is that a manual transmission? I couldn't tell from your pictures, and you never said. They are rare these days, so worth mentioning.

Go to the Edmunds and NADA sites to get an idea of what it's worth.

Craigslist: My advice from experience - don't bother with CraigsList. If you DO, be sure to put in a note about "No Trades" - otherwise every yahoo with a truck, bike, or van will email to see if you want to trade plus cash.

Listing sites: Autotrader.com and Cars.com are the two I'd go with.

Detail: Assuming no tough stains or spots, I wouldn't bother with a pro detail, just clean it really well yourself.
