BMW's were made to have there ACs on all the time without having to turn it on and off. I tease my friends with such thing, they have 2003 2004 cars and they have to turn the AC off everytime.
Turning the A/C off shortly before the end of your trip won't hurt. It would even help keeping the system clean, so you don't need to disinfect it once a year.
That's why it's even recommended to use the A/C even in winter times, to keep the system clean. That has nothing to do with the fact that this is a BMW. When you know you park the car for quite a while it would be better to switch the A/C off for the last minute of your trip. But that's only if you park it for a longer time. If you use your car on a daily basis, or almost like that, then you can just leave it on all the way.

Speaking about disinfection. My car has been disinfected from a woody smell 2 times and it still has the smell. They are now going to replace the entire vent system and all that goes with it the remove the smell.
