This is my first time buying a car imported from the US. I got the VIN number and got this carfax.
What my friends told me that sometimes, a total loss in the carfax doesnt necessarily mean the car is actually total loss. Its just the insurance doesnt really want to fix it. Having being told that, it didnt make any sense at all to me as its stupid and they had no clue what they are talking about.
here are the pics from the car fax. Can you guys please advise me as I am new to this car fax and what would you suggest? Thx
Appreciate all ur help guys. Oh and if someone can tell me exactly where the X3 TCU is located?

If you ask to see the car's title, it would probably say "salvaged" or something to that effect. This is required by law.
I wouldn't touch a salvaged car unless I really trusted the person who repaired it. GL

A lot of salvage vehicles deemed not-sellable in the United States find their way into the export market place.
Laws and motor vehicle regulations vary by country. Salvage vehicles can be repaired to be drivable if done correctly but as someone has already said, without knowing the ability of the shop who did it the cosmetics may be perfect but the underlying important items like structural integrity and such are a gamble.
If you are willing to take some risk you may do OK ... if it were me, I'd walk away and find a clean straight example.
The dollar you save today may cost you 10 tomorrow! You were smart to CarFax it!!

The car was hit rear/left which most likely caused frame bending... you might run into transmission problems down the road.... suspension problems....problems...

thank you guys. guess ill keep looking. appreciate all the help you guys have given me.
its unfortunate, since the dealer is a good friend of my aunt, how people would try to sell us such a car to close friends.we were this close to buy it but told my self to carfax, even if we trust this guy. Truly, no one is trust worthy IMO.
anyhow, if close friends are able to do such a thing, i dunno wht would a stranger do. I guess its off to the honda dealer for a brand new 2009 CRV. i think its the same price as a used X3 3.0i.
