Yes, they are just the right ones. Just see that they are OEM's!
I will get 12 mm spacers rear (and a 30 mm lowering) next week.
My Sport Maxx's are great.

I am looking at 20mm rear and 12mm at the front, but i'm unsure on rubbing with a 30mm drop. I dont really want to start messing about with camber shims etc.

If ever in doubt, check the placard inside the driver's side door - it lists the recommended tire (tyre) sizes, as does the owner's manual.
After buying my M5-offset 166's I am installing 12mm spacers (once they arrive from Nerweezy!) to make them as M6-offset. But they will fit without any other mods.
Good luck!

Just to clarify, PDC (Parking Distance Control) is a totally different thing. You either have FTM or TPMS on your car. Look in the iDrive and you can tell the difference by the letters used and with TPMS you can actually see a picture of the car showing the individual tyres in green (good pressure) or yellow (low). TPMS actually uses sensors in the wheel that need to be placed on the new wheels. FTM uses the brake sensor to monitor the tyre rotation. Lower pressure equals smaller tyre diameter and therefore faster spin...
Can't recall what your 2005 has but I suspect it is FTM so simply install new wheels and tyres and reset FTM in the iDrive.

It was late.... i didnt mean PDC, i meant RPA, which is the run flat monitor in the idrive.
So if i changed the wheels / tyres how would i disable the RPA in the idrive?

Hello.
I am in the UK and I have a May 2005 530i M sport E60.
At the moment it has the standard 135M (double M spoke style wheels)
They are 8J x 18 all round with 245 x 40 R18 Michelin Tyres.
I am looking to buy and put the 172M (double M spoke wheels) on it instead
I am just wondering as the BMW specs shown in the accessories brochure for these wheels are:
Front - 8.5J x 19 with 245/35 R19 tyres
Rear - 9.5J x 19 with 275/30 R19 tyres
I am just wondering if this would be a straight fit with no adjustments (as it does not state in the magazine) or whether I would need spacers on the rear.
As the wheel spec are 9.5J spec then I am wondering if they may stick out from the rear wheel arch?
Also I do not really want to put run flat tyres on them as they can be really expensive to replace.
What are the best tyres to put on these wheels. I understand that Bridgestone or Continental would be best, What do you guys think?

As others have said, they will be a straight fit. I just purchased General UHP Exclaim for the rear and am very happy with them thus far - no buckling, noise, vibrations. Good value for money IMO.
Im going to Florida next week, anyone on here from there and know where i can get a good priced set from.... will look for tyres as well.....
wheres good for the 172M wheels?
Will be going to SoCal later on in the year as well....
I read on here that a dealer in Cali does a 25% discount for the 172's?
