Hello.

I am in the UK and I have a May 2005 530i M sport E60.

At the moment it has the standard 135M (double M spoke style wheels)

They are 8J x 18 all round with 245 x 40 R18 Michelin Tyres.

I am looking to buy and put the 172M (double M spoke wheels) on it instead

I am just wondering as the BMW specs shown in the accessories brochure for these wheels are:

Front - 8.5J x 19 with 245/35 R19 tyres

Rear - 9.5J x 19 with 275/30 R19 tyres

I am just wondering if this would be a straight fit with no adjustments (as it does not state in the magazine) or whether I would need spacers on the rear.

As the wheel spec are 9.5J spec then I am wondering if they may stick out from the rear wheel arch?

Also I do not really want to put run flat tyres on them as they can be really expensive to replace.

What are the best tyres to put on these wheels. I understand that Bridgestone or Continental would be best, What do you guys think?

They will fit without spacers (only a problem on estates)

Just replaced all my tyres with non run flat Kuhmos 245/35 R19 front and 275/30/R19 rear

Got them from http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ good price and imo better than standard fit Continentals, and they come and fit them at home.

As Blunt said, they will fit no problem, FYI the rears are no problem because although the rim is wider the offset is different.

They will deffo fit no probs. In fact, you may want to put spacers on just to bring them out a bit...lol

If you've just recently bought your car, then consider getting this tyre insurance.........
I've got it and claimed on it.
Those 19" tyres can be expensive !!

Yes, they are just the right ones. Just see that they are OEM's!

I will get 12 mm spacers rear (and a 30 mm lowering) next week.

My Sport Maxx's are great.

Also.... forgot to ask... what happens about PDC (run flat sensor) in the idrive.... Do you just disable it or it just does not work if you dont put run flats on.....

I just didnt want a warning light on dash / idrive all the time if i changed to standard tyres

Just to clarify, PDC (Parking Distance Control) is a totally different thing. You either have FTM or TPMS on your car. Look in the iDrive and you can tell the difference by the letters used and with TPMS you can actually see a picture of the car showing the individual tyres in green (good pressure) or yellow (low). TPMS actually uses sensors in the wheel that need to be placed on the new wheels. FTM uses the brake sensor to monitor the tyre rotation. Lower pressure equals smaller tyre diameter and therefore faster spin...

Can't recall what your 2005 has but I suspect it is FTM so simply install new wheels and tyres and reset FTM in the iDrive.
