Advantage: Better handling with staggered setup because of a larger contact patch on the rear (drive) wheels. The thinner fronts also allow for better turning.
Disadvantage: Need for 2 different tire sizes when replacing, and with directional treads you can't really rotate your tires at all.

From my experience of having staggered fittment so far is the look makes the E60 look that much sportier. Drive wise just know I got more grip then oem.

Staggered pros: wider contact patch on rears for traction on take off, look more aggressive.

Staggered cons: tend to increase understeer, cost more (rears), can't rotate F/R, decreased mpg (^rolling resistance).

Non-staggered pros: usually a better deal if you buy four the same size, less understeer, slightly better gas mileage , can rotate.

Non-staggered cons: do not look as aggressive.

+1 with that.........

The extra understeer is why I will reduce the size of my stagger on the next set of tyres if possible !!!!

Currently running 245/275 and the extra understeer annoys the hell out of me, of course traction is better but the balance is not as BMW intended it to be
