Split temperature level between left and right + changing the temperature in the backseats. I also heard the advance airco is better able to keep a constant temperature (i think on roadfly or so).

The rest function is fantastic if you ever have to sit in the car waiting for wife/kids etc (especially combined with the TV function)

aircooled tv watching in a comfy seat without running the engine!

Its also got some sort of humidfier which stops the air getting too dry. Great for us contact lens wearers

You won't regret the Advanced A/C. The filters are better than the standard, air is humidified properly, the fan control is better and the zonal air stratification and temperature control is excellent (I still lose my manual settings when I punch "Auto" button). You can also set an automatic air circulation to come on twice a day for 30 minutes to cool your car down after a day in a sunny car park ! Under the phone mounting, there is also a secret air conditioned compartment (ggod for choccies or a small can of something!).

What else are you ordering ?

I know about it so definitely not a secret. Haven't made use of it yet though. Tried the automatic cool air recirculation too.

Currently driving a loaner 520iA with the basic A/C.
Differences:
Just one climate for the whole car, advanced A/C has three zones (left, right and rear).
No air outlet in the storage under the cellphone tray in middle arm rest with basic A/C.
Basic A/C has no MAX (button for maximum cooling) function, no REST function (to use the heat from the engine for the inside when car is parked), no AUC (automatic air quality control) and no defrost function to clear windshield and windows from fog.
AND, offcourse, advanced A/C has the better looks of the controls.

I didnt realise that there was a "basic" air.

Its standard down under. It's alittle overwhelming the first time u step into the car, because there are a gagillion settings that you can tune to be absolutely barometrically correct
