Called my local dealer (Ottawa) and asked for a retrofit or add-on option for MP3 external device (Ipod or else). My car is 2006 model 530 xi with a build date of July 05. He checked a few fact sheets and says, sorry but cannot do anything. Must have a build date of March 06 or later to have the capability.
I currently do not have NAV but do have Bluetooth, voice command for phone and a single CD player (does not play MP3s though).
Can anyone confirm? Are there 3rd party options available to me. Would I void the warranty if I did so?
thanks

Some more informative people can chime in but you need to go with the Dension Gateway 500 - this utilizes your cd changer connection - whether you have one or not, search the forum for Dension, you will find your answer

As usual, your dealer is simply wrong. I had the OEM BMW iPod adapter in my January '04 built 545 (No Navigation). It goes in the glove box and replaces the 6-disc changer. Even if you don't have the changer, the adapter can be installed using the cables which are already in place in the glove box. And as Mag75 points out there are third-party options as well including the Denison Gateway device.

My Ride: 2005 545i E60 Orient Blau Metallic
Premium, NAV, Winter Package, Heads Up Display, Logic 7 Audio, AngeliBright Upgrade [White], M5 Body Kit, M Embroidered Seats
This sounds bogus. I have a 2005 545i and had the iPOD MOST interface installed and the AUX installed. Of course, I lost my CD changer in the process but a recode later and everything works fine..
