Adaptive headlights

My Ride: 2005 545i, Black on black. 6spd MT, Nav, sports package.
When I pull up against a wall with the headlights on, the lights only turn when i turn the steering wheel to the right. They seem to not go anywhere when i turn it left.
They do go back into the original straight position when I turn the wheel back from the right.
Has anyone seen this? Is it supposed to do that?
