yes i only bothered to put the lights in "auto" mode for the first time on the way home last night, and i've had the car for a month now

Well all I can say is I thought the adaptive lights thing was a gimic/toy but in real life they were excellent It was almost funny watching the lights move as I went round corners, changed direction etc etc....overall a very good piece of technology, simple idea that works well...well done BMW !!

Wonder if BMW will add an option to the iDrive vehicle settings screen that allows you to enable "adaptive" lights for dipped beam even when not having the lights in auto mode.

I really didn't find them that impressive. Last night I tried really hard to see them working--I was driving on a pitch black really winding road. I didn't notice anything really, even though I was focusing on it. The only time I can actually see them move is when I'm parked and I turn the wheel right. Neat technology, but if I had to pay extra for it, I wouldn't.

I agree. It's cool to watch them move from side to side and overall they're nice to have, but plain xenons would be fine with me.

I like them better than the older xenons. These self-level better and faster than the older ones, and the fact that they steer does offer improvement over the older style. I used to find that with the xenons on the 2001 540, the "cut-off" on the edges of the lighted area of the road hid people, animals, etc, whereas, now I have a little more response time when on curvy roads.

I love the adaptive headlights and I can see them clearly move around when going into turns.

The high-beam is amazing.....it puts out a perfect "dome" shape of bright light....much cooler than the xenons on my old 330. Now if I could just get the transmission to mellow out....this Steptronic is very annoying in city driving.

Love the Adaptive Headlights. It was almost 3 weeks until I go tto use them. The sun was up to much for me to get a good ride at night.
