Adaptive headlight help!!!
Hello, i have a weird problem and im sorry if someone has already answered it but i couldnt find it.
The green led blinks on my light module indicating a problem, projectors go up and down when car is turned on but dont move side to side, there is no errors in the idrive like most have. ( most cases i read the light dont level and there are errors) so sould it be a stepper motor? Alc module? Cant get it hooked up to the scanner for a few days.
Thanks in advance.

if both aren't turning it's probably the module if it's a pre september 2006 car (when stationary the lights will only turn to the right so you need to drive (best speed is 45mph ish) to be able to notice if either one moves left or right, or use DIS to move them independently). If it's a post sept 2006 car it's the light module.
The dates might be off slightly, but I think that's when the integrated the directional headlight module with the light module.

its a 2004 545i and before they were working fine, while parked if i turn the wheel the moved. now they only level once the car is turned on. I had some 7w angel eye bulbs then replaced them to the 20w which after a couple of months i didnt like so i took off the head lights and put back the 7w ones and later on that night i saw the light flashing and at times my pass side low beam turnes of and back on but thats really rare. bith side has new bulbs.
so you think its a module than? if yes which module is it? the alc or something else?

I had the same problem over a year ago. Your smc module has gone bad. First, figure out which headlight is not moving. If you connect to inpa, it will tell you the stepper motor has failed on either the left or right headlight. But it sounds like you won't have access to diags for a while. You can have someone else turn the steering wheel with your headlights on while you look and see which light is not working. Once you figure out which side is not working, go on eBay and find a used smc that matches the side that is not working. If you can find one, then you can directly replace it and your problem should go away. If you replace it with a new one or one from the wrong side then you will have to code the new smc. The module is quite easy to replace once you get your headlight out. Sorry, it's been a while since I replaced mine but that should hopefully help you out.
