The car has been experincing some intermittent active steering malfunction issues. It has been in the dealership for 1.5 weeks now really missing the car. they tired the below and still see the error popping up:

1. reflash/upgrade program
2. change new battery- they noticed a draw from the battery power and they suspect this could be a potential cause. I had my radar detector hardwired to the car and they even suspect this to be the cause!!! however thankfully the error happened again when the detector was not installed.
3. plan to look into changing the steering system!!! if others don't work.

I was told by SA that they are working with the folks in East cost and Germany on this as well.

Has anyone experinced this before? Any inputs appreciated.

What are the symptoms or errors you see?

I have had occasional problems with active steering.

Suggest you do a search ... seems we have seen AS issues.

The error keeps popping up on the screen. When i acknowledge the error, the steering wheel feels a little heavy due to it running without AS. Once you stop and start the car, the error goes off and AS is back on again. This happens intermitently usually during driving.

Yes, that is similar to my issue. On start up my error message was ?AS activating?, or something close. The steering would be very stiff. I would stop, shut down, restart and system then OK ? sometimes I had to restart more than once.

My car has been in dealer on two occasions where this was one of several issues. The problem now seems behind me. I don?t know what the dealer did to fix it and maybe they don?t either. They did update the progman on both visits.

They only had to keep the car overnight in both cases. The last visit they changed out the instrument cluster because they found some missing pixels. I doubt that pixels are related to Active Steering.

Again, try searching the forum ? there have been related topics.

I had a similar issue but they just replaced the entire Active Steering unit. I still get the Active Steering Error but it usually disappears after turning the car off and restarting. They check the fluid every time the car is in and they say it is fine.

good luck

Latest update after 2 weeks, they replaced the angle active steering module. Found some issues with it. Car is being "reflash" again and I hope to get it latest by Friday This is very very dissapointing.
