Oil reservoir for power steering, active steering is marked "CHF 11S OIL ONLY"

I top off once a year, during the cold winter. I top off past the MAX mark, just over the word "MAX". My BMW Center sees a lot of these Active Steering malfunction complaints during winter and that's what they recommend. It seems the fluid evaporates over the year and also contracts due to cold temperatures. No issue during the rest of the year.

^ the v8 cars have the resorvoir on the other side.

in case your bmw dealer isn't close, CHF11S is also available at these dealers usually:
Audi Mercedes Nissan Porsche Volkswagen Volvo
CHF 11S is equivalent to OE number: BMW 83 29 0 429 576
