I'm considering buying a new 545/550i with active steering and this is my first time on this forum. I've decided to get active steering, even though Evenflow545 believes that AS is dangerous, useless and annoying device (an opinion not shared by many in this posting), because his stalling, steering lock and braking problem does not appear to be due to an active steering problem (otherwise, there would be no way for others with active steering faults to drive around for months).

This thread was actually quite informative and interesting until this post

I just get slightly sideways with some unknown idiot....

and now this one

I would think posts like this are probably what led Evenflow to refer to you as an idiot and question why you would not register.? Let's move on....

This reminds me of the 7 yr olds in my neighborhood -- when they have no points to make, they resort to name calling and personal attacks. Between Evenflow545 and JBOO, they have over 400 postings and I can't imagine reading through other postings full of personal attacks and name calling. Although multiple "Guests" have made postings in this thread, the name calling didn't start until the Evenflow545 posting above, which generated this response

An unfortunate choice of words -- "Guest" should have said one wonders who is acting like a child here....

I'll have to reconsider joining this forum if Evenflow545 and JBOO continue the name calling.

Let me make it clear that I DID NOT call anyone a derogatory name in this thread or any others.

I just pointed out that maybe the tone of "guests" response as a possible reason for the name calling. That's all.

Evenflow 545 posted about a problem he is having with AS, and from "guest" he gets-

- told his claim was nonsense
- accused of not being able to drive
- accused of embellishing his story
- accused of spewing misguided and unsubstantiated opinions
- and generally talked down to

I might get a little perturbed as well.

Like I said in my previous post, please let's move on.

Geez, fellas. Sorry for the "idiot" thing. It was out of line. I just get a little bent when some unregistered dude who's apparently reluctant to make himself known implies first that I'm a liar and, secondly, that I'm stupid. I try to give honest opinions on the board (even if they may not always be universally received), and add a little humor to this thing. It's not like I have an Audi (I can barely stomach the thought) and I'm trying to sabotage the board.

I realize that I can take the car in for service, and I intend to do it.

Maybe in my next dumbed-down post I'll talk about something clever like how great the BMW sunroof is, and everyone will love me.

Thanks Evenflow545 -- I'm very encouraged by your response.

However, I'm very disappointed with JBOO's response

JBOO knows that none of the persons posting as "Guest" (which included Evenflow545) called Evenflow545 any names and Evenflow545 concedes it was out of line to call anyone a name as well. I'm sorry, but as long as JBOO (and others who think like him) believe they or others are justified in making personal attacks and calling people names on this forum, I'm not going to be able to join --- if I want to be called names, I can always join a political blog.

TonyLa are you serious?

I can't tell if you are or if you are just instigating things.

Again, for the 2nd time, I DID NOT call anyone a name.

I just stated that it appeared to me that Evenflow545 was provoked into name calling.

I'm not sorry for that, but I'm sorry if you have taken it personal.

Please, move on and let it go. Back on topic.

I have not had any problems with the active steering in my car, 6,000 miles of pure bliss. I love everything about this car especially the active steering.
I respectfully say "Give it Time". My AS went out at lease 7 times. The dealer said there was a Hydraulic leak on a line that came off. Then it happend again. I just stopped and started the vehicle. You migh want to check your Steering fluid resvoir, which is not listed in teh car manual. Like that is a suprise.
