Active steering malfunction 545i

A dead or dying battery may also cause this issue. The car makes sure there is enough power to start as a priority, and may shut down other systems to preserve that initial start power.

Actually, this may be battery related issue, because my battery it is almost dead....
Thanks!

Hey Guys,
I've been reading some of the post as I had the same thing happen to me on the same day on a 2005 530i. Came out and started the car to find the steering wheel cocked (was straight before) and the lights and iDrive indicating the same malfunction. I've tried to reset the car both way (running vs. not running) and no luck. PS fluid is fine as well. Is there a different method for a 530 vs. 545? I'd hate to take it to the dealer for something I may be able to do. Thanks for any advice.
Regards,
Ash

Interesting,
I had same issue pop up the other day, came back from long trip of 2500 miles, no issues, then parked it for a few days, started it, steering wheel was misaligned by 20% to left and turn signals were no longer shutting off. Checked power steering, looked OK, but it is a bit confusing, generally you fill it to top of line when hot in most cars, but this dip stick has two lines, so should it be at top line when hot? Also have a typical power steering growl when hot and after driving more than 40 miles. Just don't want to overfill for obvious reasons, so should level be at top line when hot?
Thanks,
