Default Active steering issue

2006 550i
Hello. I was changing my front wheels and couldn’t get a floor jack underneath the front of the car so I used two 2x4 pieces of wood under each front wheel and drove the car up onto the 2x4s.

While pulling the car onto the 2x4s I shifted the steering wheel way off center to the right I guess & caused a active steering fault. Basically the same way as if you slide on ice at a slow speed in the car.

I have got this fault before and done the left, right ,center steering wheel steps and corrected it my self multiple times before. But, this time though it won’t correct.

Will it not correct it’s self with the left, right, center steps if it’s more then 30° Off center? It’s more off center then it ever has been before.

Should I try and recenter it back the same way with 2x4’s?

Can I fix this? Dealer time?

-Thank you for any tips & help.

Why did you not jack up your car from the sides?

Buy a BMW code reader. You may have to reset the SAS.
