Active Steering
#1
Oh well Back to the dealer! I managed to get the 'active steering fault' come up. Actually happened last week but after leaving the car for an hour the message self erased on the subsequent start. However today it occured twice and the second time the message was different as IIRC it said 'STOP and restart the engine to reinitialise'
I tried the reinitialse bit to no avail, but again after leaving the car for a few hours the messages all disappeared.
Luckily I contacted the dealer the first time just to get them to log the fault. This time though they want it back, especially as I had told them the second time it occured the steering felt notchy
Is there anywhere on the web that gives a breakdown description of how 'Active Steering' works?
The 'notchy feel' to steering inputs is the bit that bothers me.

Update!
Just had a call that went something along the line of 'It needs a part that is not stocked we'll call you tomorrow' So looking at real.com my guess it is the rack and/or the steering column itself. There doesn't seem to be too many other 'service' parts listed.
I wonder if it's worth asking them to forget it and stick in an ordinary power rack? IMO 'active steering is a bit of a gimmick

About 3 months ago i had the AS warning come on and the sterring when really stiff, it was like trying to drive a bus, anyway the car was at the dealer for about 5 days and they replaced the control unit in the boot and all was good. This week the same thing happened and therefor the car is back at the dealers today...hopefully it is an easy fix.
I really like the feel of the active steering especially for parking etc however i am concerned that i am having continuos problems with it.

Car is coming back today looks like another steering column has been installed.
Also they have replaced a cylinder glow plug.... for poor starting! Dunno where they got that from because starting has never been an issue Must have been logged in the computer!
