Anybody have any knowledge about or opinions on ARS and
-Long term reliability?
-Possible problems with sensors? - I found only 1 person who has had this so far, which resulted in the car "bumping" whenever he made a sharp turn
-Possible problems with actuators?
-Maintenance? Will hydraulic fluid need to be replaced?
-Replacement? - Do you think it can be replaced by a stock swaybar?
Another thing I noticed, in the original sport package, ARS and active steering were bundled together because they were both controlled by "Dynamic Drive", which functioned to correct oversteer. Now that they have been unbundled, I assume you lose Dynamic Drive if you opt out of active steering. Do you get Dynamic Drive if your car has active steering in MY 2008?

I seem to recall a post that "dynamic drive" was activated as one of the selection options of the Sport Automatic Transmission. Don't have mine yet or I could tell you for sure.

IIRC, Dynamic Drive was a package in the early production E60's that included both Active Steering and Active Ross Stabilization. They were strictly handling option and did not function to correct oversteer. Oversteer would fall under DSC or DTC depending upon the year of your car.
My E60 had DD as part of the sport package. I particularly enjoyed the active steering as I found it required less movement of the steering wheel to effect a change in direction. When you took a high speed corner such as off a freeway ramp I found the ARS was great in minimizing body roll.
I had no problems in the 2 years I owned my E60 with either ARS or AS. I would have gotten them both again if they were available on my E61. ARS and X drive do not play well together and it is not available on the E61 in NA.
