AC not cold at idle - Aux Fan Not On
Have had 0 problems with my 04 525i AC, now having parked it in lieu of my new vehicle, I'm noticing the AC at idle is not very cold. Once driving around the AC is nice an chilly, but at idle it is warm.
Notes:
AC Charged and within spec on AC Gauge
Blows icy cold when driving
Hot when at idle
When parked, idle, with AC full blast compressor is confirmed on and clutch engaged
Can visually see and hear that fan is not kicking on
It is my understanding that the fan is what keeps the AC cool at idle, is that a correct assumption? If so, what causes this fan issue and is it a common thing for E60s? I read something about a ~$15 switch that controls the fan? Searched and wasn't very successful. Now I'm trying to sell the car and have somebody coming to look at it and would like to have this info to either fix it or atleast speak to it intelligently. Thanks for any info! - Josh
