Does anyone have that poblem of the Recirc air blowing a bad mildew like smell. The regular AC doesnt smell at all. I have a feeling its the cabin filter since the recirc goes through it in a "sealed" fasion in order to recirculate the cabin air, but i dont know if i should take to dealer or something i can do myself...
I hate driving long distance to where i bought the car...does BMW allow you to take to ANY BMW dealer to perform work on your car??

you may want to try what i used in my SAAB, it too smelt like damp when the air blowers were on. so someone told me to purchase this stuff it comes in aerosol, what you supposed to do is turn your blowers on, and then in the passenger footwell turn this aerosol on. it lets of a very strong mist of gasses. after 5-10 minutes it cleans and kill all the mildew that might be built up in your system.

it worked for me, the only thing is that i dont know what brand it is. google it

Check (and replace) the underhood recirculation filters - they're probably full of crap.

Thanks for all the good info, i will Google AND look into my filters. Do you know where they are located under the hood? If i find that brand of spray i will post it....thanks again, and i hope that awful smell goes away soon...with summer and all coming around the corner...

Same issue here... never fixed. Dealer asked me if I park under a tree.... I almost hit him for insulting my intelligence!

Filters replaced.... still stinks. Sprayed the crap... still stinks. I have not turned the AC on yet this year but I'm hoping for NO stink!
