Drivers side is blowing outside temp at minimum but passenger side is much colder. I have double checked setting in idrive (3 bars for cold). Even in auto or max settings left side is not cold. Whats wrong? If its vice versa its a sign of needing a refilling but I think that this has something to do with valves or something else.

530i lci with advanced AC.

Do you have the temperature dial cranked all the way up on your side?

This happened to me with my MB E320. Turned out the refrigerant in the system needed to be replenished and that there was a small leak in the condenser.

My E39 M5 did this when it was low on freon. If all settings are normal for cold air then I suspect you have low freon in your system. Will need to be recharged.

Re-gas fixed the problem. I thought there were a bigger problem because if its low on gas ac should blow on drivers side -not on passengers side!

This does not make any sense,if the system needs a top off than nowhere will be blowing cold air.I have the same problem but I have not fixed it yet, cold air only blows on the passanger side .

bojan, The IHKA system in the e60 is very different from what 90+% of the folks have seen or worked on. From the clutchless variable displacement compressor, to the placement of the condenser coil within the system. Try loading up your compressor and feeling the suction line by the quick connect fitting on the suction line. If it is not real cold, try giving it a shot of 134a. If the suction line is cold with sweating, hook up a BMW compatable code reader and check the IHKA module for error codes.

Except with modern BMW, where the first sign of your car being low on refrigerant will be cold air on one side of the car with lukewarm air on the other side. BTDT, you need to recharge your AC system and check for leaks. also check your iDrive vent settings, make sure both sides are set in the fully cold position.
