Yes, I'm well aware of this thread. but...
My car has 3700 km's or about 2,000 miles on it - it's a new car OEM!
I bought a brand new set of OEM M172 wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx tires.

Every morning the car vibrates as hell, not only the steering wheel, but the whole car!
But after driving some 50 km's (30 miles) the vibrations chills to close perfect.
Best cure seems to be driving on brick roads for a while.

I had no such problems with the standard 225/55 17" RF tires.

I have tried with hi and lo tire pressures (from the drivers door OEM), but no change.

What IS the problem?
Must be the tires in some way, but

I am guessing flat spots from sitting overnight, but 30 miles seems a lot to get rid of it....

There is a black M5 on my dealer's lot....been sitting there since JULY 2007!! I test drove it last August, and the car was shaking so bad I thought something was wrong with it. The steering wheel was shimmying back and forth, etc. But once we heated up the tires, all was good.

+1 Flat Spots are a common problem with non-runflats and the soft rubber compounds we generally run. The sidewalls aren't as stiff on non-runflats which exasperates the flat spotting when parked for an extended period of time.

Extended period of sitting my ass - it simply can't be like this.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET THE WHEELS AND TIRES BALANCED WITH A ROAD FORCE BALANCER. MOST HIGHER END TIRE SHOPS SHOULD HAVE THAT BALANCER. THAT WILL TELL YOU WEATHER ITS THE TIRES OR RIMS.

I WILL GET THE WHEELS/TIRES BALANCED AT MY LOCAL BMW DEALER.

But the real problem seems to be the tires flat spotting.
