Hey guys when you shut your car off does the engine make like a weird sound, mine sounds like the fan belt is being pulled alittle nothing major though, but it was bugging me. Just wondering if this was a normal sound when turning off the car or is it just my car that does that, maybe someone on the forums had this problem and knows what needs to be changed? Thanks in advance guys!

 

Mine doesn't do that.

I'll be perfectly honest....after being shut off, sometimes mine makes noises, other times it makes none, other times it makes different noises. I'm not kidding. With the technology in these new cars, I have no idea what all is going on when it is turned OFF....or turned ON for that matter. I give up trying to figure it all out...and I'm an Engineer.

I also have no idea what the A/C is doing sometimes...someitmes it's ON when I crank the car, sometimes it's OFF when I crank the car...no particular rhyme or reason. Bottom line...if it sounds fine, runs smooth, feels good, cranks consistently...I'm not gonna worry about it.

 

lol I'm an architect so everything has to be perfect just like you ask an engineer, lol but at the same time the car is fine i just dont want something to pop while im driving thats why i wanted to know if its something that is normal on everyone else's little monsters

 

Mine makes noises as well when turning off....sounds like something under the hood is clicking or locking. My buddy at the bmw dealership said it's normal.

 

I get a lot of "ticking" sounds from the exhaust pipe and heat shields cooling off - it's annoying but normal and nothing to worry about.

Mine make noises when I drive! Engine revs, and gearbox changes gears!
