Default About to buy 07 530i OPINIONS please!

Alright guys i'm about to buy a 2007 530i with 70k miles. The car is dark gray with black interior.

The good..

- Sport Package
- Premium package
- Light package
- Comfort Seats
- Xenon with adaptive headlights
- Nav
- It's in awesome condition.. interior still smells new, seats are perfect. No visible gasket leaks on engine compartment. Paint is good to go.
- Clean title and clean carfax (2nd owner bought as CPO)

THE BAD
- Transmission slam from 2nd to 1rst gear. (altought no message on Idrive) I've had this happened on my previous 07 525 and it was fixed under warranty so i have no clue how much it was. Rear brakes are due and tires need replacement and alignment.

Was selling for 18k, had him be aware of transmission slam and got it down to 15k.

How expensive and how bad is this slight slam right before coming to a stop? How much should I be looking to spend from your experiences?

Thank you all. Can't wait to come back to the e60.

Not to discourage you but my 07 530i did the same thing at 82k. The transmission was replaced under CPO to the tune of 6-8k I believe. I believe that is a symptom of the transmission slipping and trying to protect itself with an upshift. One thing I would make sure of is no vacuum leaks. Inspect the oil cap mine was bad and caused some hesitation and weird shifting issues with the new tranny.

That's what I was afraid to hear, on my 525 the 2nd to 1rst slight slam was a 'transmission leak'. That fixed it... I'll give a call to my indi shop first thing in the am.. if any of you guys have had any experience with this please shed some light.

If I were you, I'd take that car to the nearest BMW dealer and ask them to diagnose the trans shifting problem and ask them if the software update would solve the problem. If SW upgrade doesn't solve, what would it take to solve the problem.

This is what I would do. Have them do an a pre-purchase inspection on it. Its going to cost you a couple hundred bucks but in the scheme of things its nothing if you can get the buyer to maybe lower the price some more. When I got my 530 it needed to have the trans replaced luckily it was cpo'd otherwise it would have been a 8k bill. But Good luck,

took it to my indi today and it had so much more than just tranny (yet interior and body looked SO clean), so decided not to take it. Have to keep looking, i have to admit I'm a bit dissapointed at BMW.. I think i might try a different brand.. Thank you all.

Can you spell out what indy shop has found? I'm sure the list of problems will be helpful for other E60 buyers.

From just driving it and popping the hood (didn't even put it up in the lift to check under!) he could tell there were leaks, loose hoses, said something about the mechatronics on the tranny, suspension issues (he made me get off the car to see how the car would like slide forward after breaking).. there was more but i forgot already. Rear breakes and tires were due but i didn't even consider that a con.. as i was planning on putting 4 new tires and all new breaks.. mehh

Mind you the car had already replaced under CPO: Starter, engine mounts, alternator..

Funny thing is, it was SO clean! Interior and paint were PERFECT and I fell in love with the options mentioned on my first post.

So becareful when buying these used bimmer guys, car had only 74k miles btw.

My Dad's 05 expedition with 80k miles has never been at the shop for nada.. and that's a freaking Ford gents!

alright I'm done now lol
