Any owners out there that have input on this car?
Considering as a possible next step, used of course.
I have a 2004 545i currently. Just upgraded is so probably not moving quickly here just want to get feedback on the 7 series.
Would do LCI, 2009+. Probably bring all my goodies over from my retrofits as well.
Thoughts on:
performance: its big, does it get up quickly?
handling: same questions
maintenance: will is fall apart after 100K?
any general feedback welcome.

My Ride: 2008 550i sport package

My sister had one which i drove and it handles like a bigger 550. It has a great ride but it is a large car. Maintenance, from what i read can be a bear.

Yep, there's a good reason why you can find similar year 7-series cars for almost the same price as 5-series cars. I came close to making that mistake myself, and after reading the forums I think I made the right decision.

Personally I really like the design of the Lci E38 7 Series the best. I would love to own one as a project car.
E65s are too big IMO and I've never liked the interiors.
...the F01s however

In 2006, I test drove a 2003 745 iL at the same time I bought the 2004 545i (they were the same price) and for me the iL was too big and heavy. Later I drove a 750i, and found it to be much better in terms of feel, so personally I would look for an "i" over the "iL" if I were going that way.

I test drove 750li and 750i in one day. Two different cars. 750li is for those that drive in the back but most 750li owners don't realize that(sorry couldn't resist). It is not a driver's car. 750Li had 22" rims and I felt every bump in the road. I couldn't loose the feeling I was driving a mini-van. 750i on the other hand was really nice. It is a heavy car,so it doesn't handle like 550i. It had 20" rims. Alpina 7 use 750i frame and not 750li for a good reason.
