E60 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the E60 5 Series. All are welcome!

Is a 645i just a 545i in a nice suit? I doubt it.

I disagree-and agree that 6 series have older owners-due to the affordability factor-they are that much more pricey than the 5 and 3s etc-maybe more younger people want them but price is a limiting factor-by far more older people in 6>5>3/1

I have yet to see another youngin', such as myself, in a 5er in my neighborhood. Most kids my age that drive BMWs drive E46 330s or E9X 328s. Of course I feel privileged, but that isn't to say that I'm in a car that's not for my age group e.g., a Ferrari Maserati, M5, etc. I would say the 5's for the 40+, or atleast I see more people in that age group driving it, but is 40 really old? I guess that girl's comments are bothering me more than anyone else, but you drive what you want, not what other people think. A professor of mine, easily approaching mid-50s, drives a Mazda Miata which he admitted to buying during his midlife crisis. Wouldn't anyone else go buy an expensive luxury car? It's what he wanted though.

I think it is safe to say that the 6 series is a 2 door 7. Not a two door 5. All you gotta do is look at the trunk and the wheel arches.

I also agree that the 6 series is gonna get your older drivers, mainly due to money, and alot to do with that mid life crisis type deal, needing a "sports car" kinda thing.

Despite the visual similarities to some aspects of the 7, it is indeed really a 2dr 5... It shares its major components with the E60.

At ~$90k, if a 6 series is the cure to a mid life crisis, I can't afford to be 40. But then again 50 is the new 40, so I have a few years before mid-life . I may have to go the way of another Porsche for my mid-life crisis.

6er vs 5er

as others have noted, 6er is closer to the 5er in lineage, but there are still very significant differences that make them very hard to compare. 6er is wider and lower, and weights less, but it also has much less usable room than the 5er. The 6er is a two seater for the most part, and unlike the 5er, the cockpit wraps around you very nicely making the car feel much smaller than it is..the ergonomics are incomparable, imho, the 6er really feels 100% driver oriented, while the 5er is nice but not as nice. Driving dynamics also favor the 6er, it turns tighter and is lighter on its feet, the 5er has a little too much body roll as compared. Really just depends on what you want and what you need...if you need room for more than 2 on a consistent basis, the 5er is the only option, but if you like to have a standout GT that caters to the driver alone, then the 6er may be a consideration.

on avg, the 6er will definitely have the older average owner age due to price point, but im sure just as many kids luv the 6er as do the 5er, i know i do!

Nd, u cant go wrong with either, but of course there can only be on king

I like them both alot. But I dont think I would trade my 5er for a 6er. unless of course i was getting an M.
Call me crazy but I like the looks of my 545 better then a 645 anyway

I actually like the look of the 6er very much, just not practical for me since I have 2 small boys. I need the extra rear seat space afforded me by the 5er.
