Is this normal? my driving style isn't crazy and i rarely floor the gas. I do drive local most of the time though, if it matters.

Oil are becoming more and more fluid. Now the new LLO4 is a 0W30. It doesn't suprise me.

I did 2 quart in 13000 miles with a diesel...

So that's about 10.000 km and now a litre of oil, and you have the new N52B30 engine (with 258 hp)?

Well that sound a lot to me.

I have had 3 cars (E46, E39, E60) with the old M54 engine and non of them needed any oil
before the first service.
My new one has gone only 5.000 km so I cannot say anything about this one.

But I have heard that Audi's drink a lot of oil when the engines are new.

Anyway, a car shoud not use a litre of oil in 10.000 km only for environmental reasons.

And how does the catalysator work after a gallon of oil have gone thru it????

Any auto technicans out there?

I am curious, did you break it in gently for the first 1200 miles?

Are you seeing any oil spots on your driveway?

Adding oil is very normal for the V8 (I've added 3 quarts in 18k miles) but I am not sure if that's the case for the I6:

How many miles on your car? My '07 530xi (36K miles) consumes very little oil between scheduled oil services [according to iDrive] ... in fact, it has never required any addition. I drive a mix of conditions highway and suburban / city ... occasionally run it up to or near redline for giggles.

I"d start by looking for obvious leaks - and since the engine is wrapped in plastic that may require some poking around.

GEEEEE - hope I'm not jinxing myself!?!

I'm currently adding 1 quart every 5K but I have almost 135K miles on my car. It really didn't start using oil until after 100K. I probably put in 2 or 3 quarts during the first 100K. I've stuck to the 15K interval for changes.

I'd have it checked, seems excessive.
