The 550i is way better optioned and that color combo is hot! I wish I had auburn/cinnamon interior
.
The only thing that lures me to the 535i or 335i is the tuning capabilities. Can you say yeeehawww with a $1k tune!? Then again reliability issues come into play.

Congrats on the 550, I thought the answer was simple from the start ALL 5 series bring a smile. I have a 530 and I still smile every time I drive it. Good luck with your purchase and new car

No, I only test drove the 535d and M5. I did actually ride in my friend's 550i from Stuttgart to Munich - other than the sound of a V8 the acceleration felt pretty much the same. Remember, the 550i's extra ponies are offset by its increased weight and numerically lower axle gear ratio. The latter could explain why you felt the 550i had a more "relaxed" acceleration.

535 is better for it's engine: it is 3.0L with 306hp
it is turbocharged, so it will have better acceleration at low RPM.
It has great fuel efficiency - my 535 can go for 800km on full tank.
As for me, I would change my 535 to 550 only if 550 would have lower mileage, ACC, heated seats, vented seats(mine is from FL), Logic7 and PDC(still because mine is from FL((( )
So I would say that 550 could be better because it usually has better options(but i've seen 550 with manual transmision without comfort seats and logic7)
