Does anyone have figures for 0-10, 0-20 ... upto 0-100 acceleration time frames of 545i and a 550i. From BMW website I understand that the 550i has 35 more HP and 30lbft more Torque than 545i? (Is that correct). And if that is true, THE REAL QUESTION HERE IS:

IS THE 550i FASTER THAN 545i ? AND BY HOW MUCH ?

Haven't seen any test numbers for the 550 yet. No question that it will be faster, tough to say by how much. I drove a 550 sport the other day and it didn't feel *that* much different to my 545 to be honest, although I fully expect the differences would have become apparent after a longer drive. Given some of the times that users are reporting for the 545 lately (hovering around 5 dead in a couple of cases) you've got to think the 550 is going to be a sub 5 car. It's quick....

For starters, check out Thread 1 and Thread 2. You will find info on some fast 545i's. I would think that the 550i would beat the 545i if in capable and persistent hands. I think it is important for the cars to learn what they are supposed to do when you dig the spurs in and whip the rein side to side. BMW says 5.5 and 5.4 to 60 for the 550i Step versus the SMG/manual as I recall. BMW said 5.8 and 5.7 for the 545i Step versus SMG/manual.

I'm really interested in seeing the top end speed like 1/4 time and trap or up to 120 mph test runs. I think that this area is were the 550i will shine over the 545i. From the 0-60 mph, .2 seconds can easily be made up by drivers.

Right B32, and I'd like to see passing times too. My meter gives me passing times. Maybe the mags will post passing times for the 550i's. I just wish they would test some period. Since no tests have come out yet, I suspect the first out will be comparos.

Yep, the new (i.e., April or whatever) editions of the US big three mags are out now, and there is nothing on the 550i.

So a 550i steptronic could be beaten off the line by Znod in a 545i 6spd manual?

Wow imagine Znod with a 550i step!

But, I thought that I had a Step. I learn something new here everyday. me I am confused. But, better confused than confusing--as some of the dearly departed would say about me.

What i meant was, you achieved your results with a 545i step imagine what you could do with a 550i step!
