Thank you for confirming that the M Sport features in this way in the Canadian market.

If the marketing guys are not using this term (for the same thing) in USA the I wonder if you agree that they are mad and should be fired.

ABC

For a World Brand like BMW you would think they would use the same nomenclature for important things like this, especially as it relates to the covetted //M.I love the cars though. We had an 03 e39 540 with the complete MSport package as well .

Cheers

I am late to this discussion but I currently drive a 545 SMG. With a new car I knew that I wanted the sports package and having gotten stuck a few times in the snow with my 545 I wanted the availability of All Season tires this time around that fit on the standard sport rims. The 535 with the same setup as my 545 had many selections now that was not available when I first got my 545. The 550's 19" rim do not have that availability and I don't want "winter" rim and tires. I also did not like the increased space between the wheel well and tire with the M-Sport suspension, the standard sport suspension allows for a tighter fit. The M-Sport body work is a matter of taste and while I did not like it initially I have seen it in darker colors which makes it look better. Also I wanted the Platimum Bronze with the natural brown which is not available with the 550.
I would have absolutely gotten the 550 if the 535 wasn't virtually as fast or if the staggard wheels were not available.
I lease my cars so cost was not of any consequence- the difference was only around $150 per month.

First, I don't think it is even called an M-sport suspension... it just says it's a "retuned sport suspension calibration."

Second, why would the retuned sport suspension calibration have a greater wheel gap than a sport 535?

Man, this thread is nuts! It's like Republicans and Democrats try to argue who has better policy.

Neither... China has the better policy.

Don't know why it just does. If you do a search on this forum its well documented. It might not be applicable to the 2008 though.

I'm driving an '04 S4 6MT (340HP 4.2L V8) right now. I really enjoy the S4, but I do sometimes miss the mid-sized room of my previous GS430. I've been considering a 550i Sport 6MT as my next car, but with the 535i released now, it's become a considerable contender as well. This thread is definitely interesting to me and makes quite a few solid points on both sides. Certainly if BMW and/or Dinan released a chip that didn't raise warranty issues for the I6TT that would steer me that direction--and there's something to be said for the better fuel economy of the smaller engine at similar performance--but there's also something to be said for V8 engine feel and sound.

I have probably a year or so before I'll be in the market, so by then I imagine there will be solid data on these two models and hopefully some update on any BMW/Dinan offerings for the 535i. Looking forward to seeing what's out there...

The way things around here, in a year or so the heated debate will be E60 vs F10, which is faster, better value, better handling, cheaper to insure, better fuel mileage, less maintenance (did I miss anything?)

peace
