550i: Squeaking Brakes
HI,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced squeaking front brakes where the brake pads and rotors are in good shape according to the dealer. The car has 40k on it.
Thanks,

Brake squeaking is usually caused by pads vibrating against the caliper frame/pistons.
One way to resolve that squeak is to remove the brake pads and apply anti-squeak grease behind the pads (where they touch the caliper).

Your car needs a canyon run!!!
Really go drive it hard for an hour (in a safe environment) with some hard braking. Get them through some heat cycles and burn some old brake fungus out!
If that dont help then like mentioned above you need some anti seize in between the pads.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try that as well.

Check the Brake Sensor
If the squeak is coming from the sensored wheel-- the front left-- it may be the sensor is rubbing against the rotor. I had that problem at low speed breaking and sometimes without breaking. You can have the shop check. If that is the problem, you can file the sides of the sensor in a chamfer shape. See this thread: https://5series.net/showthread.php?t=133224&styleid=5
Worked for me. Good luck!

Try lubrication but I bet the caliper temperature exceeded the temp limits of the grease and it just burns off. If I had to guess the squeaking is from cheap brake parts.. Pads most likely.
They make some sort of concoction that is meant to quite down brakes. If it works is beyond me

The rotors and pads are all OEM. The car has about 40k miles and I'm at 12 - 13 % left on the front and rears. So it getting close for a replace. As mentioned, it doesn't happen all of the time, but it's enough to get on your nerves.
Thanks
