If the rumor turns out to be true regarding the revamped 545i (550i?) and they start building them in September, when would you expect BMW to announce it and dealers to officially begin taking orders?

PSULion, I already have a deposit on a 550. My dealer will contact me as soon as he gets the specs so that I can choose the options on my car. He has indicated that this should happen late April, early May. I have a September allocation, they have 3-4 slots a month for 550's, the first ones will arrive late Oct. or early Nov. depending on where in line my slot is.

My dealer is willing to take a deposit on my rumor but still claims they have no official confirmation that there will be such a car. I'm extending my lease by 6 months to 11/24 and putting the deposit down anyway. I was realy just looking for some sense of when to bail on the 550 rumor and go ahead and order the 545i. For now I wait.

My sales rep knows nothing of a 550 because BMW doesn't want anyone to know until as late as possible. The 4.8 is in the 750 and will almost certainly be in the 5 series, probably a 550. Some on this forum have disclosed that they "know" its coming out. My guess, and it is totally a guess, is that it will be close to September if they are saying September build. Only BMW knows for sure.
My sales rep can reserve a car for me, one of their allocations of 5 series built to whatever BMW specifies. Hopefully a 550
My dealer wants a deposit too, but only because it's a manual transmission. Are they taking a deposit from you for a 550 specifically and presumably returning it if there is no 550 offered? Or are they doing like mine and just reserving an allocation? For now we wait. Argh.
The way I understand it, is you are protected for your deposit. Not sure if it is a state thing, but even if your car comes in and you decide not to take it, I believe they have to return the deposit.

...at the NY Autoshow this weekend, the "technical rep" from BMW NA did confirm to me that the 550i will be available for order in Sept, along with the 650i... and that comfort access will be available as well
though he was clueless on almost every other question, including the M-sport option for USA, and whether we will get the 740i or if there will be a 540i offered in the US
....dealers are the last to know everything
