Went to go look at it today (picking it up Saturday).....and noticed a small pleasant surprise.

The steering wheel isn't all black anymore, has silver trim on it (like the SMG steering wheel)....matches the shiftknob/i-drive knob.

I always liked that silver trim on the SMG wheel, small but really nice touch.

Not sure if its just for the 550i or applies to the rest of the 06 5series.

Do you mean the silver trim on the bottom parts of the steering wheel hub, like this--it was also standard on the '05 545i:

Yup, that's it........guess my salesperson wasn't really up on the topic.

I have the 05 and 06 brochure, the steering wheel is all black in the photos.

Today I said "Hey I didn't know there was silver on the steering wheel, like the SMG wheel."

Salesperson goes on to say "Yeah, the 06 has silver on the steering wheel."

Oh well, news to me and the salesperson that the 545 had it as well.

Thanks for pointing it out.

This is also true for the '04 545i's.

Yeah, I love those trim pieces, I've been thinking of putting them on my car.

Hey man I think BMW sold you a duffer; the steering wheel is on the wrong side

Seriously though, what is that sticker to the left of the i-drive? I don't think we get these in UK/Europe.

.thats just the sticker telling about iDrive controller function movements, your dealer may have already removed it prior to you taking delivery...

Yup, had that on mine. Although, it only pointed to the 'Left' and indicated 'Climate'.

No...yours is on the wrong side....

It's an idiot sticker indicating that climate control is to the left. It's been removed...
