was driving earlier when suddenly i started feeling the car to shake/jerk constantly then the engine went off...the service engine light lit up also...tried couple times to get the car started but nothing. i then waited ten minutes and everytime went ok and i went right back home... any idea what could have happened? 2006 550i with manual gearbox

 

If the check engine light came on, very likely, diagnostic code(s) must've been set. Need to read those diagnostic codes.

If you don't have OBD code reader, auto parts stores read the codes for free. Take the car to car parts store near you (like Autozone, advance auto parts, etc)

 

sorta sounds like a fuel pump going bad. but it could be a number of things.
